I know nothing about lobsters, where do I start?
If you want to learn more about lobsters, what to do with them, or just some historical background information about the lobsters Mainah’s love to eat then visit our About Maine Lobsters
page where you can learn how lobsters are caught and kept. You can also learn how to cook lobsters, nutritional value and how to eat lobsters!

You use UPS to ship your packages overnight and I have my own UPS account, can you use my account number for shipping?
We certainly can use your personal/business UPS account number. If placing a shipping order online, just put your account number in the Comments box at the bottom of the check-out page, and we will adjust your total to include only packaging and bill your UPS account number for the transportation charges- you will receive an email from the website with the adjusted total when we make changes and mark your order as "Processing".
If you're placing a shipping order by phone or in person just let the Foreside Seafood associate know that you have your own UPS account. You do pay for normal packing with Foreside Seafood, and UPS will bill your account for the shipping charges.

What should I do if I want lobsters but have a tight budget?
At Foreside Seafood we offer the lowest overall prices around, and we can work with you and your spending limit to accommodate your needs. Let your Retail or Shipping associate know what you want to accomplish and your budget range, and we can make something work!

What if I don't want to cook the lobsters myself?
Before we ship your order (or pack it up in the store for travel) we can fully cook (cooking for 15 minutes) your lobsters, so that you don't have to! If you want us to cook 'em up for pick-up to take home and eat, we can do that too! Just let us know what time you need your order to be ready!

Can you explain the full-cook option for travel and shipping?
Hard-Shell Lobsters live 24-36 hours out of water, and Soft-Shells live about 6-8 hours out of water. Let's say you want to pick up your lobsters (or have them shipped), but know you will cook and eat them over the recommended time to keep the lobsters live. Full-cooking is certainly the way to go in this situation! If we full-cook your lobsters before packing for travel or shipping, this gives you an additional 24-36 hours before you would need to finish the cooking process. You MUST keep the lobsters cold! The gel packs in the packing/shipping boxes help keep the lobsters and seafood cold for about 24-36 hours, so it is imperative that you get the entire box, or take the lobsters and seafood out of the box, and get them in your fridge as soon as possible! There will be a sticker on the packing/shipping box reminding you to do this, and appropriate cooking instructions will be inside your box as well. Of course, if we are open, we are here to answer any questions you might have!

I want to ship lobsters or take them for travel, but I don't know how to cook or eat them...
In each of our shipping boxes (and packing boxes) we include cooking and eating instructions. These instructions are available for our Walk-In customers as well.

Why is there a price difference between the Lobster price per pound and the Online Ordering price?
The lobster prices for Online Ordering have been calculated out from the prices listed above on the same page. Meaning a pound and half lobster at $8.00 per pound would look like it is $13.60 per lobster- 1.7 lbs (the max weight for "Halves") by the current price per pound. The calculated prices help with making online ordering an easy process, by giving you the maximum dollar amount that your order will cost. If you use your credit card online or over the phone, you are charged the actual weight- not the per lobster price- so expect your total to be less!
(We feel our Online and Phone customers deserve the same pricing as our Walk-In customers!)
