Shipping with Three Sons Lobster & Fish
Three Sons Lobster & Fish can ship any seafood or item we carry directly to your door! We use UPS Next Day Air to ship our products nationwide (for Hawaii and Alaska please see the bottom of this page). Packages will be delivered before 5pm to most areas in the Continental USA (delivery can be as late as 8pm to some areas).
You can schedule a shipping order in advance or orders can be placed the day before you would like to receive- make sure to place your order before 3:00pm EST if you want the package to arrive the next day.
Customers Purchasing "A La Carte" (Non-Packaged) Items: The
website uses maximum weights per product ordered to calculate totals
and shipping costs. If you use your credit card online,
we manually enter this information in our store when your order is processed, and charge you for the actual
weight of your items. The website will give you the absolute maximum
your order will cost based on current prices per pound, and max weight of
products for shipping calculations. Always
expect your total to be less than what the website quotes you. If
prices change and your actual cost is more than $10 over what you were
quoted, we will call you to make sure it is still ok to process your
order. Customers Purchasing Shipping Included Packages- the package description will tell you exactly what is included. Your only additional costs would include Saturday Delivery for $18, if you wanted the package delivered on a Saturday (where available) and an additional $20 if the package is being delivered to Alaska or Hawaii. PayPal Customers- Charges for Saturday Delivery (if available) are waived for those paying through their PayPal account, as we are unable to make adjustments to PayPal payments. You must choose the correct option during checkout if you do want Saturday Delivery.

Your Package is Insured!- Our Shipping Charges include insurance for your full purchase price in cases of damage, spoilage and/or late delivery. However, no claims will be honored due to any Adverse Weather condition- heat, cold, snow, rain, ice, etc. Saturday Delivery is available to select areas of the Continental USA and adds an additional $18 to your order.
Hard Shell Lobsters, Crabs, Clams, Mussels and Oysters will last 24-36 hours out of the water, so it is imperative that the live seafood you receive be cooked the same day that the package arrives. We include cooking and eating instructions, our business card, a pamphlet and all contact information in case you have any questions or concerns. Each box is individually labeled with it's contents- Live, Fresh/Frozen, Partially-Cooked or Fully-Cooked-- so you or your recipient know what's inside, know to keep the package cold, and the labels have our telephone number in case of any questions.
Can you explain the full-cook option
for travel and shipping?
Hard-Shell
Lobsters live 24-36 hours out of water, and Soft-Shells live about 6-8
hours out of water. Let's say you want to pick up your lobsters (or
have them shipped), but know you will cook and eat them over the
recommended time to keep the lobsters live. Full-cooking is certainly
the way to go in this situation! If we
full-cook your lobsters before packing for travel or
shipping, this gives you an additional 24-36 hours before you would
need to finish the cooking process. You MUST keep the lobsters cold! The
gel packs in the packing/shipping boxes help keep the lobsters and
seafood cold for about 24-36 hours, so it is imperative that you get
the entire box, or take the lobsters and seafood out of the box, and
get them in your fridge as soon as possible! There will be a sticker on
the packing/shipping box reminding you to do this, and appropriate
cooking instructions will be inside your box as well. Of course, if we
are open, we are here to answer any questions you might have!
Delivery Dates and Guarantee Policy
Delivery Information:
All of our products are available for delivery Tuesday through Friday. Saturday deliveries are available, with extra $18.00 Priority charge, to certain areas in the Continental U.S. If the delivery date you chose does not work with UPS we will call you as soon as possible.
Delivery Guarantee Policy:
WE CANNOT GUARANTEE DELIVERY OF SHIPMENT!
We
can file claims on your behalf with UPS if delivery problems occur. Refund or reshipment will be granted when claim is honored. To help reduce complications with delivery of shipment, you can:
- Notify the recipient that a PERISHABLE package is arriving by 5:00pm on the day of delivery
- Keep track of the package by tracking online through the UPS website
- If
there are severe weather conditions in your area, change the delivery
date of the package so it arrives once the weather has passed, as
weather complications are the most common reason for undelivered
packages or delayed deliveries.
To help reduce complications with delivery of shipment, Three Sons Lobster & Fish will:
- Call you if there is a storm in Maine that will prevent the outgoing shipments to be picked up
- Contact you or the recipient if we receive a notice from UPS about a delivery problem
- File a claim on your behalf if shipment does not arrive on time or arrives in unsatisfactory condition
- Be available seven days a week to answer any questions or concerns you may have in regards to shipping a package or the condition of the seafood you receive
Saturday Delivery to Alaska and Hawaii is not available.
HAWAII: Due
to regulations in the State of Hawaii, we can no longer ship LIVE
seafood without a permit for the recipient. We can ship cooked, frozen
and fresh seafood without a permit.
If
you would like to apply for a permit to ship LIVE seafood into the
State of Hawaii, please contact your local Hawaiian City Hall or
Customs location. The cost of the application is $5.00 and can take up
to 2 weeks to receive. Each instance of receiving LIVE seafood requires a Permit from the Customs Office of Hawaii. Please do not attempt to tell our Staff that you have a "Permanent Permit", as we know these do not exist, and will not send Live Seafoods without a valid Permit Number. Providing an invalid Permit Number will result in delay of your package- Three Sons nor UPS will be held responsible for any losses. Please refer to this website: http://hawaii.gov/hdoa/Info/doa_importing for information. If you have received a permit to accept LIVE seafood in the State of Hawaii, you must give us your Permit Number so we can post the Permit Number on the box, and you will receive your Live Seafood within a timely manner from Hawaiian Customs and UPS.
ALASKA:
Some Shipments to Alaska are now on a 2-day schedule, others are still Overnight. All packages to Alaska must be
sent Priority Overnight, but some will arrive within 2 business days. Those shipments to Alaska can be sent Monday for delivery Wednesday, Tuesday for delivery Thursday and Wednesday for delivery Friday. If you place a shipping order to Alaska, we will check the zip code and contact you with your options, as live Seafood should not be sent to a zip code on a 2-day schedule..
